South Ninth Avenue
A documentary photography project in development.
Mount Vernon, New York has historically been among the most sought after real estate in New York due to its proximity to Manhattan and suburban environs.
Over the last couple of decades the 4-square mile city has suffered from financial struggles, reduced education standards and increased crime.
The conditions are ripe for change and with gentrification running rampant in NYC, it is inevitable that Mount Vernon will experience significant change over the next decade.
This project is an analysis of the causes, effects and reach of large scale urban change as well as the socioeconomic causes and effects of this phenomenon.
As cost of living skyrockets in NYC how will the Mount Vernon demographic change?
